Typical Items Made and/or Repaired
As well as saddlery repairs and making bridles, head collars, girths and stirrup leathers etc, over the years there has been a steady and growing demand for ladies’ handbags.
Repairs and Handcrafting
- Repairs to bridles, head collars, stirrup leathers, girths, lunging reins, lead reins and saddles
- Making new reins, bridles, lead reins, head collars, stirrup leathers and girths.
- Repair of Ladies' handbags, brief cases and document folders, purses and other leather goods.

Restoration
I have been a professional saddler for more than 48 years and have successfully restored many old items which are now in use and loved once again – a lot more small items have not been recorded and so are not shown here. I can bring life back to old leather, repair stitching and replace lost or broken parts.
Unfortunately not evey item is possible to restore. Sometimes the leather is just too degraded to be able to bring back to a usable condition. I make every effort to save as much of the original item as possible and I will discuss any issues with you before taking action.
I hope to add more items here soon, including before & after photos for comparison.
A 123 year old pistol case originally made by Charles Lancaster in 1902 in London
This case was made originally for the ancestor of a local landowner and is now in use once again by the current owner.
An old handbag belonging to a lady in Edinburgh
This was sent to me in a very poor state and was refurbished. It is now in use by the daughter of the original owner.
A handbag made in 1938
Belonging to a client in Sheffield, I fitted a replacement handle to this old handbag. Unfortunatly the majority of the leather was so rotten that it could not possibly be recovered.
